A Safe Pig

Well, I just had to jump on the masked pig bandwagon… I’ve seen so many darling cards made with this retiring set as they relate to this weird, stressful, terrible, ‘sometimes ha-ha and sometimes not’ funny time in all our lives. I sent a similar card to an elderly widower family friend and he actually called me just to say thanks; he said it was a bright spot in an otherwise boring day that was running together with all the other days. I challenge you to do the same thing – reach out to anyone. You just never know who needs a pick-me-up…

This set doesn’t come with the saying “…Stayed Home”, so I just printed it out. It’s not the exact same type face, but it looks okay (much better than the handwritten version I attempted). The materials list is below if you want to make one of your own. He’s just so stinkin’ cute!

Remember, the current annual and Jan-June mini catalogs retire on June 2nd so if there is anything you want be sure to place your order right away. Click on the link below for the items that are still available (some may be sold out).

And, of course, the new Stampin’ Up! catalog launches on June 3. If you haven’t ordered from me in the last 6 months, email me and I’ll send you a catalog. It’s a great time to have a hobby as a stress-reliever!

Well, I hope this post finds you safe and healthy. We are still doing our part to shelter at home; looks like I’ll be working from home for a little while longer, then we’ll be back on-site in a staggered schedule. I’m looking forward to being out of the house more – I miss people!

Special shout-out to my friend, Karen. I hope everything is okay, dear friend, safe travels and I’ll be thinking about and praying for you.

Take care and, as always, happy stamping!

Forever Greenery

The 2020-2021 catalog comes out soon (YAY!!) and I’ve had a sneak peek. Okay, more than that…I’ve had the opportunity to pre-order a few things. The Forever Greenery Suite was one of those things – b..e..a..utiful!. I will get my UPS delivery next week, so I have to wait for my new toys before I can show you anything.

However, in my last post, I promised pictures of my garden. So in a way, I am showing you some ‘real’ forever greenery. This is my other hobby – it used to be a chore, but in the past couple of years it’s become my seasonal sanctuary. It’s the perfect stress reliever and so rewarding when you can see how your hard work pays off. It’s a quarter of an acre perennial garden with 11 different varieties of hosta. Who knew there were that many options! It’s been a work in progress making it my own; this spring I have added some new hydrangeas, a few columbine plants as well as bee balm. And I’m excited to say – due to no skill on my part – I have a bunch of milkweed spouting up. I really hope that along with the other flowering plants I’ve added, lots and lots of butterflies and bumble bees come for a visit.

I did play in my craft room during the rainy day yesterday, so I have a couple new cards to show you, but I will wait for future posts. I will, however, tease you with the cover of the new catalog. If you’ve ordered from me in the last 6 months, you’ll get your catalog in the mail, so keep an eye out for it.

Stay safe everyone and as always, happy stamping!

Colorful Thank You

The Stamparatus. A tool that I know so little about so each time I use it, I learn something new. I know I’m behind the curve a bit, that pesky full time job keeps getting in the way of playing with all my stuff. Well, I had a few minutes Thursday night and popped into my craft room to create a Thank You card. I’ve seen a number of similar techniques to the one on this card, but I’ve never tried it with the Stamparatus. Well, Best. Tool. Ever.

This card came together SO quickly using the Stamparatus. I hardly had to think at all. The recipe is below, but this is one of those cards that’s pretty easy to figure out just by looking at it. I used the Ornate Garden Suite which is an early release from the 2020-2021 catalog. Sooo many beautiful new products in the catalog. If you have ordered from me in the last 6 months, you will be receiving a catalog in the mail when they are released!!

Click the link below for more information about the suite (when you order, please remember that my name has changed to Kelly Duncan).

It’s been raining all day, so I’m taking time away from my garden (look for pictures of how that’s coming tomorrow!) and pulling out my favorite sets – some retiring, some carrying over. Maybe you’ll see a bunch of cards in another post later this week!!

Take care everyone – stay safe and as always, happy stamping!

Share Sunshine

Stampin’ Up! released a PDF for download recently as part of their Making a Difference program where 100% of the proceeds will go to COVID-19 efforts for the following organizations:

  • The World Health Organization’s COVID-Solidarity Response Fund
  • United Way Worldwide’s COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery Fund

This is a digital stamp set. It is packed with both lighthearted and thoughtful sentiments and imagery relevant to the unique COVID-19 and social distancing situation we are currently in. I recently purchased this download and got to work on some cards. Some of the sayings are silly, some are thought-provoking and some are serious, but mostly they just carry an important message; stay connected! Here is a sampling of some of the cards I designed. The Designer Series Paper is a retired paper from Saleabration called Pleased as Punch.

If you are interested in purchasing this download, click here. Because proceeds go to 2 well-deserving organizations, this will not go through a normal order where demonstrators get credit. You can use the download in your cardmaking and papercrafting projects. Simply print the imagery on cardstock and cut it out using Stampin’ Up!’s Paper Trimmer, punches, or dies. Since we are physically distanced from each other, now is a perfect time to share sunshine with our friends and family by sending cards!

And stay tuned for photos from products from the upcoming 20-21 Stampin’ Up! catalog – just waiting for my UPS delivery!!!

Stay safe everyone and, as always, happy stamping!

Ornate Garden Suite

We have been having a beautiful spring here in Minnesota, except of course for this weekend (typical for fishing opener and Mother’s Day). I’ve been using that warm weather as a perfect excuse to get away from my “sheltering-at-home” work space and work in my garden. I am way ahead of  where I usually am at this point in the season. I’ll post a picture this week, once I get my Mother’s Day flowers planted – hopefully we are past the potential freeze warnings!

Even though it was a bit cold and rainy today, I still played in my  “garden”; the Ornate Garden Suite. Since tomorrow is Mother’s Day, I wanted a special card for my wonderful mom. I had the picture of what I wanted in my head and it came out better than I planned – I love when that happens. Once I stamped and colored the background flowers, I stamped/embossed them again and made the colors a bit brighter. I fussy-cut the flowers and popped them up using dimensionals to give the card a bit more texture. I think the Ornate Layers Dies are so beautiful, they frame the flowers perfectly.

My mom still puts my artwork on the fridge – I love that so much!

It’s supposed to be a cool week, so I’m planning on playing “in the garden” again and will post my creations.

Stay safe and healthy everyone.  And, as always, happy stamping!
