Mosaic Mood

I hosted a day-long class this past Saturday.  It was a great day – lots and lots of stamping along with a little bit of eating and some great conversation.  I posted some sneak peeks in previous posts, but now that the class is over, I want to post the projects in full form.

The first project we tackled, which was by far the most difficult and time-consuming, was the card box pictured below.  I love the new Mosaic Mood Designer Series Paper, and it lent itself perfectly to the punch art I wanted to use to decorate the top of the box.

The base of the box is Garden Green (8 1/2 x 10, scored at 2″ on all sides) and the top is the pink rose design from the Mosaic Mood paper (6 x 7 5/8, scored at 3/4″ on all sides). That was the easy part…

The rose took the biggest chunk of the morning to complete.  I’d love to say it’s mine, but I didn’t come up with the design – I found the tutorial on Pinterest (click here) thanks to addINKtivedesigns. It uses the Hot Air Balloon punch and about a full sheet of Petal Pink paper. The 3 accent leaves are also created using the Air Balloon punch.

The Very Vanilla flower is made with the Perennial Flower punch and the yellow flower is made with large Daisy punch. The center of these two flowers are faceted gems colored with the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend.

I will post photos of the 6 cards we made as the week progresses.  All in all it was a great day and I will host another event like this next quarter – definitely with a holiday theme.

And I have to include a piece of business – you still have time to take advantage of the Bonus Days!  For every $50 you spend through July 31, you get a $5 coupon code to use in August.  If there is something you just have to have from the new catalog, now is the time to get it!  Click here or the “Shop Online” link on the right to go to my online store.

Happy stamping all!

Stamping Opener Teaser #2

I’m going to make this post quick since it’s late on a “school” night.  I have a couple more sneak peeks to show you for the Stamping Opener Class next Saturday, 7/20.

I’m especially excited about the “with gratitude” card below.  First I love the Perennial Essence paper we will be using and the technique highlights how beautiful it is.

This next card uses Embossing Paste which I have just been itching to buy and play with it.  I got my chance this weekend and I’m excited to have the group play with me on Saturday.

Okay, that’s it for tonight…and no more sneak peeks!  If you want to see the rest of the cards/projects, you’ll have to join us on Saturday. Click here to register!

Happy Stamping!

Painted Flowers

I’m on vacation this week enjoying the beautiful summer with my sister  our families have gotten together every year for the last 18 years at the same spot in Wisconsin.  It’s lovely and so very relaxing for everyone – especially now that the kids are older and don’t rely on us for their entertainment, only the meals :). <sigh> wish they’re lasted longer.

Even though I’m by the pool, I still wanted to share this beautiful card I made. I was part of an online stamping retreat a couple of weeks ago and learned this accordion fold.  I didn’t have the paper they used in the retreat so I pulled out the new Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper and the Inspiring Iris stamp set and designed this card.  This paper really does all the work for you – it’s so beautiful!

I’ll add the recipe for the card when I get back to my computer.

Dont forget July Bonus days!  For every $50 you spend in July you get $5  coupon code to spend in August.

Well I’m headed back to the sunshine – the lazy river is calling me!

Happy Stamping!

I got the Wildly Happy set at the April Stampin’ Up! OnStage event. I love animal stamps, but I don’t collect very many…not sure why. Anyway, I was Wildly Happy to get this set (see what I did there?!?) and sat down earlier this month and made this card. I had wonderful inspiration for this card as we had a family of foxes in our backyard this spring!  Click here to see the video I posted to YouTube – we watched them for hours and hours.  They are all gone now, but making this card sure brought back the fun memories!

It was actually a very simple card to put together, although there are a couple of unique items:  the black background is cut the long way (4 1/4″ x 11″) and the Cajun Craze piece is 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ with a score along the left side at 1 1/4″.  That 1 1/4″ strip was embossed with the Woodland embossing folder and then just folded over the white cardstock insert.  I used the Stamparatus to get the fox and kit placed just right. I’ve listed all the materials needed below.

Sweetpea Stamping July Newsletter

June 21, 2019

Hi All!

It’s a beautiful Friday afternoon in June and I’m sitting on my screen porch looking at my garden (see photos in previous post) and enjoying the mild temps…so relaxing after a busy week at work.  I was lucky enough to pick a lovely Friday to take a vacation day – they have been few and far between this spring.  Summer officially starts today, so I have high hopes that the weather will turn a bit warmer and less rainy.  One can hope…

I’ve spent the last couple of weeks pulling together my July newsletter.  Included are new product that’s available in the 2019-2020 catalog, like Stampin’ Up! Storage and cling stamps (a fav!), PLUS on page 2 is a class list for July and August.  I’m most excited about my “Stamping Opener” class on July 20th. It’s like the fishing opener, but inside with lots of food and crafting fun…okay not really like the fishing opener, but its meant to celebrate the opening of the new SU catalog year.  It’s a full day class (8-4:30) that will be chock-full of new product and techniques.  Click on the link below to download the newsletter.  If you are interested in signing up for this class, click here.*

Consistently Inconsistent…

June 20, 2019

…good or not, it is what it is. Now I’m back and hoping to have more time to spend here.

I’ve recently been blessed with the option to quit my part-time job. While I will miss the folks I worked with for the past 3 1/2 years, it is so nice to only work my full-time job and have more time for the things I love, like gardening and stamping.  I’ve shown pictures of my back-yard before – yes the deer are still eating my hosta and bird seed – but I’ve had so much more time this summer to keep ahead of the weeds (well, for the most part) and focus on making some changes that I’ve had rolling around in my head for so long. I’ll post some before/after pictures later this summer, but for now, I’m just excited to see all the green.

The spring has also been inconsistent – weather-wise.  Which has given  me some valuable stamping time. Our summers are so short in Minnesota, I feel guilty spending any of it inside when it’s nice out.

Stampin’ Up! brought an OnStage event to Minneapolis in April and I got a pack of the Mosaic Mood Specialty DSP as a gift.  To be honest, I wasn’t too impressed at first.  I just thought the color combination was a bit weird. Well, I started playing and came up with the following card.  I selected a retired sentiment (sorry – it’s Big Wishes from last year’s catalog), but the rest of the card contains current materials.  See below for the recipe. I’m really happy with how it turned out…and I’m a new fan of the Mosaic Mood DSP!!

Big Wishes Clear-Mount Stamp Set

Well, as I seem to mention a lot, my plan is to post more often.  I’m hoping with my new-found free time that I will be able to do that. I’ll be posting my July newsletter tomorrow – look for my July and August classes.  I’m so excited to be able to start hosting classes in my house again!

Happy Stamping!

Happy Stamping!

I’ve been just swamped with non-stamping stuff since I got back from Stampin’ Up! OnStage…bummer. The holidays are such a busy, stressful, joy-filled, food-filled, and family-filled time of year.   There has been a lot of grown-up work stuff thrown in there and I haven’t been able to play with any of my new toys – I’ve been having a lot of withdrawal symptoms. You know the signs….

The holidays are over and the Christmas decorations put away (well, mostly), so I took the time today to pull out all the beautiful swaps that I got from all the talented SU demonstrators I met in Orlando.  Here is a sample of a few of them (I note the demonstrators name if they provided it on the card):

That’s just a few of the swaps I got. I didn’t have time before convention to make that many swaps, so I didn’t have that many to trade, but I really don’t need that many.  I got some great ideas with the cards I received.

Now that it’s a new year, I hope (really, this time) to be able to post more often.  Later this week, I will post the cards I designed for my January class – all of them new sets with the Sale=A=Bration and the Occasions catalogs. Don’t forget that for every $50 you spend you can get a free items out of the Sale-A-Bration catalog.  Contact me if you need the catalogs or go to my website here for more information.

Hope to stamp with you soon – Happy Stamping!
