Birthday Surprise!

I got my first Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalog order this week.  The Tutti-Frutti Suite was my favorite (although it was hard to narrow it down); I ordered a number of items from this suite and got the Tutti-Frutti Cards and Envelopes for FREE!  I just love Sale-A-Bration, I mean, who doesn’t like free stuff!

I have a rare weekend with nothing planned – it’s such a nice calming feeling to know that I don’t have to be anywhere the whole weekend. So I spent most of the day today in my stamp room doing a bit of cleaning and a lot of stamping. I found the box/card project idea here on Pinterest and loved, loved, LOVED it!  I made a number of Christmas-themed versions with darling paper ornaments in the box for clients at my *real* job.  They turned out really cute and the ornaments looked so sweet nestled in the little box (see a pic here). Soooo, with that idea as my guide and my new Tutti-Frutti Suite in front of me, I made the project below. It just makes me smile!!

The box looks so sweet with the tiny little strawberry on top and the Lemon Lime Twist Ribbon as the box closure. I haven’t decided yet what to put into it – maybe some chocolates or a handmade trinket.  This obviously isn’t a card for mailing, but perfect for a hostess gift or a place card gift for dinner guests.

Here’s a list of all of the products that I ordered from the Occasions catalog that were used in this project: Fruit Basket Bundle, Tutti-Frutti Designer Series Paper, Tutti-Frutti Adhesive-Backed Sequins. Lemon Lime Twist Ribbon, and remember the Tutti-Frutti Cards and Envelopes were free!

If you need a Occasions or Sale-A-Bration catalog to see this Suite and all the other incredible products, please contact me through this site or my Stampin’ Up! website.

In closing, there is actually one place I have to be….in front of the television to watch the Minnesota Vikings beat the New Orleans Saints on Sunday – SKOL VIKINGS!!

Happy Stamping everyone!!

Happy New Year!

Once again, I’ve been away for a long time.  Simply just too busy. You know the saying…never enough hours in the day.

I have a few resolutions I’m working toward this new year I want to share  – I’m hoping if I make them public, I might stick with them….peer pressure!?!?

  1. Post once a week on my website.  I’m going to attempt to have new card pictures and ideas to post, but sometimes I may just do a brain down-load or promote Stampin’ Up! specials….
  2. Send birthday cards to my family and friends.  After all, I have enough cards  – or the supplies to make them – in my stamp room.  I really have no excuse to not keep this resolution.
  3. Here’s an original one…Get. In. Shape.  It’s been a fall/winter without any exercise. That’s gonna change once the tree is out and the treadmill is back in tomorrow.
  4. Dust. ‘Nuff said.

There we go – it’s in writing, so now I gotta follow-though!

There’s more detail to the number 2 resolution.  My plan is to set aside more organized time in my craft room and create new things (maybe dusting will have to fall off the list – ha!).  I have a number of left over projects from old classes laying around that keep pulling me away from letting the creative juices flow….it’s like my brain tells me I have to finish those projects first before I can start a new one. I’m going to try and ignore that and give my hands a chance to play.

That said, I have a class this Thursday (1/11).  Below are photos of projects we will be doing, so I have had a chance to “play” a little.

I always get requests for masculine cards of any kind – and they are always a struggle for me because I don’t have a plethora of guy stamps. I got the Tree Rings stamp last fall and finally pulled it out of my stash.  I visualized a pretty simple card and this is the result – easy and classy!

I need to build up my stash of birthday cards (back to resolution #2), so the next card was designed with that in mind.  Again, nothing too complicated, but it turned out pretty.

And finally, I can’t claim design credit for the final project – I found it HERE on Pinterest – but I just had to copy it for a sweet valentine treat.  It fits 2 chocolate nuggets just perfectly.

Let me know if you plan to attend the class this Thursday.  You can find more information HERE or HERE.

And finally, there’s the all-important business updates.  It’s time for the new Occasions catalog and SALE-a-Bration.  It’s an exciting time in the Stampin’ Up! year.  I’m going to stop this post now because it’s gotten much longer than I planned.  I will post more about the promotion opportunities in a few days.

Looking forward to stamping with you soon!

Hello There, Bear!

I’ve been MIA for a while, I’m sorry.  Life just gets in the way sometimes and not always the way you want it. I have been stamping, but not very much. ….and I have really missed it.

Soooooo, my stamping room needed a good cleaning – the spiders were getting more use out of it than I was – I finally got that done last week. Once things were put away where they were supposed to be (well, mostly), I pulled out a few of the items I purchased from the new catalog, plus a few old favorites, and designed the card below.  I think the new stamp set A Little Wild is so darling.

This was one of the 3 cards I created for my July monthly card class. I’ll post the other 2 later this week. I had 3 new ladies attend as well as a couple of returning stamping friends.  I was so happy to meet some new stampers and blessed to have some stamping friends back again – I missed you, ladies! I think they enjoyed all the cards we made.  I heard some nice comments when they got to this one. I mean, who doesn’t like a cute little bear.  My favorite part are the bumblebees! I love to stop when weeding the garden and watch the bees bumble from one flower to the next – they are just so…bumbly!

Just so ya know, the bear is actually a tag! Here’s the inside – thought it went perfectly with the bear looking at the bumble bee on the front. 🙂

I have to put a little Stampin’ Up! business in here, too.  Bonus Days are back for the month of July! For every $50 USD you spend July 1–31 (before shipping and tax), you’ll get a $5 USD Bonus Days coupon that you can use August 1–31.  Cool, huh?!?  Call me or visit my website at http://kellystamper.stampinup.net/ to place your order before this deal ends!

Hope you enjoy the post for today – I’ll hopefully be online and posting more often. Trying to get back to the thing I love to do…sharing my love of stamping!

Happy Stamping Everyone!

Fall Thoughtful Branches

The Thoughtful Branches stamp set and Thinlits is a bundle only available during the month of August, but I’ve created a few cards I still want to share.  The card below started out entirely different in my head. I sponged a piece of Very Vanilla card stock with Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Crushed Curry. I fully intended on just stamping over the sponged area with the tree images from the set, however once I had the the sponging done, I ended up using the treetop thinlit instead. I really liked the effect, so I ended up using that as the focal point of the card and keeping the rest of it somewhat monochromatic.

I’m a little sad that I won’t be able to demonstrate with this set anymore, but I think I’m going to keep it around anyway.  I’ve made some beautiful cards with it so far – including some masculine versions, which are always hard – and I want to keep playing with it. Stay tuned – I’ll probably be posting more creations…..

Oh, Happy Day!

The Swirly Bird set was not my favorite when I first saw it – I saw some cute cards online, but I just didn’t see the versatility.  However, after playing with it a bit, I’ve been seeing the possibilities.  Case in point – the card below. I’m not sure where the idea came from – it just popped into my head.  I love sunflowers; brings back wonderful memories of warm, fall days.  Just wish the bunnies would leave my sunflowers alone so they would grow mature enough to flower and look like this card.

I’m working on my September newsletter with my upcoming fall classes.  I’ll be posting it in the next day or so here on my website and on my Stampin’ Up! website. Check back and take a look at the classes – I would love to stamp with you soon!

Swirly…

I have been having a lot of fun using the new Foxy Friends stamp set, this time I decided to make my card a little less complicated (see Shy Hello post below). plus add my new favorite thinlit – Swirly Scribbles.

It’s funny, I really didn’t care much for the Swirly Scribbles die and accompanying Swirly Bird stamp set at first, but I have found so many cute, creative ideas.  In fact, I’ll be posting another card shortly I made while playing last weekend with the Swirly Bird set. I was really thinking out of the box on that one, which doesn’t always have the desired outcome, but in this case turned out great!  Sure wish my other jobs didn’t get in the way of my crafting, I would much rather spend all day playing with my toys….

We’ll be making this at my class this Thursday – hope the ladies like it as much as I do!

Shy Hello

It’s been really quiet around the house lately…it’s actually a little lonely. <sigh>

Our middle son decided to stay at college for the summer to take classes and work…and spend time with his college buddies. I mean, I’m not dumb. I was in college once and know he’s having the time of his life! Our other 2 kids are home, but we hardly ever see them – work, friends, boyfriends, football practice (yes, already), driver’s training, etc. – they are never around. In fact, I am really pleasantly surprised when I see them in their rooms and we get to talk in person rather than via text.

I realize this change is inevitable, but change is hard and sometimes not fun.  Don’t get me wrong, my kids are wonderful and I am so proud of the young adults they are turning into, but I do miss having them around. A lot.

There are a few benefits, though. Lower grocery bills, no more mountains of laundry, dishes that actually make it in the dishwasher…. those I don’t miss.

From the Stamp Room

With the kids out and about, sleep sometimes escapes me.  Unlike my husband, I do not fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. Instead of trying to calm my mind, I often lay in the dark reviewing the day’s activities and planning for the day ahead.  Bad habit, I know. To distract me from the day’s stresses and help me relax, many times I pick a stamp set and design a card in my head.  Once I have a card design done, usually I’m pretty relaxed and can fall asleep.

That was not the case with this card. The other night, I picked the Foxy Friends stamp set and in hindsight I now see that was a big mistake.  I love this set and the corresponding punch, so much so that I haven’t even cracked open the other stamp sets I got in the same shipment. Anyway, back to my story.  I was in the dark, going through some ideas with this stamp set and the card below popped into my head.  Okay….not exactly this card, but a version of it.  I was so excited about the design, that I got up out of bed, turned on the light (another bad idea – sorry, honey) and sketched the card in the notebook I keep by my bedside. I wasn’t going to be able to get into my stamp room for a couple of days and it was driving me crazy. The card design kept going over and over in my mind and I finally got to sit down and put pad to paper today.

As I mentioned, it’s not the exact version that was in my head, but close and I am sooooo happy with it.  It turned out so cute! Even my husband thinks so (and “cute” is not usually in his vocabulary). I’d love to hear what you think – send me a note and let me know!

Thanks Bunches….

I had fun making this card.  I’ve had the Sprinkles of Life stamp set for a while – it’s from last year’s catalog – but strangely enough, I’ve never used the flowers. I’ve made plenty of ice cream cones and cards using the trees, but never the flowers. Huh. Not sure why. It’s cute! I wanted to use the Petal Burst Embossing folder (141493), but sadly I don’t have it yet 🙁  It’s on my next order for sure!  The Woodgrain Embossing folder does the trick, though.

Final Floral Boutique card….maybe

Boy, it’s hot, hot, hot here in Minnesota this week – good time to head down to my craft room where it’s nice and cool.  So glad to have an excuse to be inside; I sometimes feel very guilty staying in the house when I have a beautiful garden outside that needs some tender loving care. If only just to make sure the hosta remain a tasty and healthy buffet for the deer that wander through. <<sigh>>

backyard garden

Anyway, that said, here’s the final card for my Floral Boutique Suite class in August. I think…. I’m still seeing new designs in my head that I want to try with the beautiful Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper and thinlits dies.  I’ve been sticking with the Night of Navy and  Whisper White color theme with my past cards, but I’ve been daydreaming about using some other color combinations. Hopefully, I’ll have some time this weekend to try some new things! It’s supposed to cool down a bit, so I might be frolicking with the deer outside!

Next Floral Boutique…#4

I’m still having fun playing with this Suite – sooooo…….here’s the next card!

This one came together incredibly fast! Most of the card is made up of items from the Floral Boutique Suite, however,  I also used the sentiment from Cottage Greetings (wood 13890/clear 139962), it fits so well with the suite!

I’ve never been a very “bling-y” person – definitely not a girly-girl – but adding sequins to my cards has been a trend for me lately. I sure like stepping up my cards with just a little sparkle!

I have one more card pulled together in this suite that I need to post.  Then I’m on to playing to get ready for my next class – it’s tomorrow night, so I need to get in gear!!!
